INDIPENDANT YOUNGIN’S: “everybody got a deal, I did it without one”.

Before i go anywhere with this i just need to tap tap salute these young fellas for putting up a good hustle to get to the top.
Remember that saying “Vuk’u senzele”? They are on that tip- that Vuk’usenzele tip.
So Khuli Chana, L-Tido ,Morale and AKA-> rock on with that independent swaggggg-we see you and olla you still on yo grind hustle hard, u only left with a mile.

Anyway this write up was inspired by the latest hype magazine, more so by the editorial written by @Fred _Mercury1. Dude pointed out the success streak by independent hip hop artist lately. Khuli Chana started this up when he said its hard to get record deal and went the independent route, and you know how that turned out, he even got out the Deluxe with a DVD, without a record deal.

S.A Hip Hop has been taking that route lately, bringing in a breed of artists who do things themselves. Quoting Drake “everybody got a deal, I did it without one”. Truly speaking they’ve been doing it for a minute now-minus the success. Many of them have been on the grind bringing out mixtapes and singles. The only problem was with that they were hoping to hook up a deal. That don’t seem to be the priority right now.

But i think this was just the inevitable on the artist’s part; I mean how long you were gon try and get a deal with no success? A guy can only hustle one idea for that long until he tries new other ways i think. Aint like record labels were signing dudes left, right and everywhere or even taking a serious look at em . theres been a lot of guys sitting on the sides with no deal for a few ones now. The BIG RECORD EXECS did jack for the hip hop artist of South Africa, its been pure hustle of the artists part and their team of course, big ups to them.. This is where one of those “Nobody made me” quotes by Jigga seems to be appropriate.

It’s all well and good for the likes of Kwesta to have a record label behind them and looking after their bizniz but what about the rest? Even the legendary Proverb is going the independent route, and must say hes sounding fresher, relevant and energised. Mara nna I’m just happy that guys are not using the “no deal” excuse to not be out there coz people are taking initiative and are making things happen.

Record labels are the big losers in this case...imagine if YOU had signed Khuli Chana before MotswakOriginator or L-Tido before All or Nothing, Morale before Smile, Clap and Bow or AKA before Altar Ego.....tjeer u’d be sitting on it, now they taking everything the shine, the recognition, the royalties and the rands. Let me just say a deal ain’t no need now-these dudes are ridin solo and they are on the fast lane to top fame....and many more to come thru on the very same lane..

Still on that tip I hear Beatjinky s got an album out “The Year 3000”-Sean Pages is bout to let loose his “Zone Out" anytime--Cassper about to drop the Debut-Pro just dropped his, fresh out “Continua”-And Listen out to Power Nights, Buy the gear, go to events,Support the DJ's,support the Graphers,Support the Dancer's and Buy Hype..... Support the culture.

....Tanzy....
